What are the common ingredients in eliquids?
UKAS accredited laboratories conduct testing for most e–liquid manufactures & suppliers and hundreds of other similar tests have been carried out within the industry, as well as independent government testing. The multitude of tests demonstrates precisely what is in the most reputable e–liquid ingredients:
- Propylene Glycol (PG) CAS 57–55–6
- Vegetable Glycerine (VG or ‘Glycerol’) CAS 56–81–5
- Nicotine CAS 54–11–5
- Food–standard flavourings
What is propylene glycol?
Propylene glycol is a synthetic liquid substance that absorbs water. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified propylene glycol as an additive that is “generally recognized as safe” for use in food. It is used to absorb extra water and maintain moisture in certain medicines, cosmetics, or food products. It is a solvent for food colors and flavors. Propylene glycol is also used to create artificial smoke used in electronic cigarettes. Other names for propylene glycol are 1,2–dihydroxypropane, 1,2–propanediol, methyl glycol, and trimethyl glycol.
Propylene glycol is clear, colorless, slightly syrupy liquid at room temperature. It may exist in air in the vapor form, although propylene glycol must be heated or briskly shaken to produce a vapor. Propylene glycol is practically odorless and tasteless.
What is vegetable glycerin?
Vegetable glycerin, or glycerol, is a clear, odourless liquid produced from plant oils, typically palm oil, soy, or coconut oil. Palm and coconut oils are natural triglyceride mixtures; each triglyceride is composed of three fatty acids esterified with glycerin. Vegetable glycerin has a number of valuable applications that include cosmetic products, foods, and as a replacement for alcohol in herbal and botanical tinctures and electronic cigarettes eliquids
Is nicotine harmful?
Nicotine is not a known carcinogenic and links to health issues are mostly inconclusive, but it is addictive. In excessive quantities it is classed as a poison, which is why toxic labeling is required. Eliquids sold by e–Vapes contain nicotine levels that are below the legally permissible limit.
Despite the potential hazards of nicotine itself, the MHRA describes it as ‘a very safe drug’. Used in moderation, nicotine has been compared to be no more harmful than caffeine.

Which strength of refill should I choose?
The strength of the cartomizer you require comes down to personal preference. Please see the guide below for the strength breakdown and cigarettes equivalent:–

How long does a cartomizer refill last?
The cartomizer can deliver up to 300 drags based on a 2 second inhalation time. The longer you inhale for, the more your nicotine consumption increases therefore the refills will run out quicker than fewer, shorter drags. The length of time you have out of you cartomizer will vary as everyone is different!
How do I know when the cartomizer needs changing?
There are many signs that indicate when the cartomizer needs changing. The most common sign is that the hit you receive when taking a drag is significantly weaker than when you first install a new cartomizer. However, please make a conscious effort to monitor you battery power as a weak / low powered battery will give a weaker hit sensation.
You may also notice a distinct difference in taste. This is another tell tale sign.
What are the common ingredients of ecigarette cartomizers?
Most ecigarette refills contain nicotine, propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine (often referred to as PG & VG) and common flavourings. Flavourings may contain traces of nuts.
What is the charging time for an ecigarette battery?
Batteries can normally be fully charged within 2 hours based on using a fully compatible mains adaptor.
How long does the battery last between charges?
The ecigarette battery can last anywhere from half a day up to 2 days. It all depends on how much you use it. Naturally, the more you use it, the quicker the battery will run out!
Why does the LED on the battery sometimes flash?
This is a low power indicator. When the LED starts flashing, you need to put your battery on charge for up to 2 hours to then continue getting the best use out of it.

Most people tend to have a couple of ecigarette batteries to hand. This enables you to have one battery on charge whilst you are using another one. Most people will have on average 2–4 batteries at any given time. As the starter kits are still on offer at only £9.99, it is a great opportunity to replace your batteries often given the great price!
Tank Batteries & Starter Kit Range
What is the difference between ecigarette and tank batteries?
The main difference is that the e–cig battery is compatible with the refills whereas the tank batteries require a clearomizer which gets filled up with e–liquid. The e–cig battery is usually a 690mAh battery capacity whereas the tank batteries that e–Vapes sell range from as low as 1100mAh to as high as 4400mAh! The e–cig battery range is more limited but is convenient whereas the tank battery provides longer battery usage times and better, smother hits on the throat.

What is eliquid?
E–liquids are designed for use by new & existing vapers who are ready to quit smoking for good or to move on from using cartomizers and take the next step. The tank battery provides a very different experience compared to using the e–cig.
Please be aware that there of thousands of eliquid manufacturers and brands on the market. Ensure that you only purchase liquids from reputable sellers and that only the highest grade pharmaceutical ingredients are used
Why should I only use / buy eliquid from e–Vapes?
e–Vapes only sell the trusted e–liquids from known and tested brands. We work with companies who use only the highest pharmaceutical grade ingredients which gives you the best and most satisfying vape. The e–liquids we sell are produced in professional, regulated environments and most brands are ECITA certified.
Why does an eliquid sometimes change colour?
Nicotine will darken naturally over time, even when stored properly. Exposure to light and heat will intensify darkening of the liquid. VG (Vegetable Glycerin) based eliquids tends to caramelize on coils (atomizer heads), causing a thick gunk to rest and alter the taste of your eliquid. Coils need to be cleaned regularly when using heavy VG based liquids. This also changes the colour, since it stains the eliquid. Vegetable Glycerin by default is clear and has a thicker consistency than other ingredients, like Propylene Glycol. Again, by default, the high VG based eliquids start off clear or amber–coloured, then eventually turns to a dark–brown colour, and takes on a much thicker “goo” consistency.
How long do the tank batteries take to charge?
Each battery is different. The smaller capacity batteries that start at 690mAh power can take up to 1.5 hours to charge. Your larger capacity batteries (2200mAh) upwards can take anywhere between 2–4 hours to charge however, please refer to the product manual you receive with your battery for a more accurate charging time
How long does a tank battery last based on a full charge?
The length of time a charge last for depends on the quality of the battery and its capacity. A 690mAh battery may only lasy some people between 1–1.5 days whereas a 2200mAh battery may last someone between 2–4 days off a full charge. It all depends on how often you use it.
How do I fill my clearomiser with eliquid?
All clearomisers will be different. E–Vapes predominantly sell bottom filling clearomisers which means you unscrew the unit from the bottom. Then, tilt the unit to a 45 degree angle and pour the liquid down the sides. Avoid pouring liquid down the central chamber as this might cause the liquid to leak into your mouth.
All our clearomisers come with filling instructions so please refer to the manual and guide that comes with your products
Why does my eliquid not taste right when i fill up my clearomiser?
When you fill up a clearomiser for the first time, the coil / wick inside needs to absorb as much liquid as possible. This is known as ‘priming the coil’. The longer you leave your coil when first filled up, the more liquid that will be absorbed which will provide, a cleaner, smother taste. You can also speed up the priming process by take a few draws on the clearomiser but without activating the power button. This gets liquid absorbed quicker.
If you fill up your clearomiser for the first time and then try vaping immediately, the power generated from the battery will burn out your coil / wick. This will then give out a burning / bitter taste which isn´t pleasant! Sometimes you are able to leave your clearomiser for 10–15 minutes and it will regain the taste however, most of the time, the coil / wick will have to be replaced.
